ViaSat Inc., Carlsbad, and Jet Aviation, St. Louis, will collaborate on a hybrid radome that will accommodate both Ku-band and Ka-band satellite communications. A radome is a structure that covers a microwave antenna while allowing microwave signals to reach the antenna.

ViaSat Inc., Carlsbad, was awarded a $13.2 deal from the U.S. Air Force to develop a self-contained  cryptographic module called Mini Crypto, that can be embedded in communication devices to protect data and ensure the authentication of those communicating with it.  ViaSat will provide engineering and manufacturing development.

Carlsbad-based ViaSat recently announced that it has more than 285,000 high-speed internet subscribers on its ViaSat-1 satellite after one year of operation over the USA.  Their goal is 1-million subscribers.  Looks like they’re on track to accomplish their goal!
